Time Zone Conversion Calculator
The world spans 26 hours, not 24.
Work out Time Zone Conversion. The world spans 26 hours, not 24. Counts the thing everyone forgets to count.
Time at UTC+9
23:00
14:00 at UTC+0 · Same day
Offsets are the honest way to do this. A named zone can be either of two offsets depending on the date, and daylight saving transitions do not happen on the same day in the northern and southern hemispheres — or at all in much of the world. Offsets of 30 and 45 minutes exist: India at +5:30, Nepal at +5:45, parts of Australia at +8:45 and +9:30, and the Chatham Islands at +12:45. Whole-hour arithmetic quietly fails for a substantial slice of the world's population. The range runs from UTC−12 to UTC+14, which is 26 hours — wider than a day. That is why two places can be on different calendar dates at the same instant, and why Kiribati sees the new year 26 hours before Baker Island does.
How the Time Zone Conversion Calculator works
Converting a time between two UTC offsets, with the day shift, the UTC equivalent and the overlap between two working days. Offsets rather than zone names, and half-hour offsets handled.

Frequently asked questions
Why use UTC offsets rather than zone names?
Because a named zone can be either of two offsets depending on the date. Daylight saving transitions do not happen on the same day in the northern and southern hemispheres — or at all in much of the world.
Are all time zones whole hours?
No. India is at +5:30, Nepal +5:45, parts of Australia +8:45 and +9:30, and the Chatham Islands +12:45. Whole-hour arithmetic quietly fails for a large slice of the world.
How wide is the range of offsets?
From UTC−12 to UTC+14 — 26 hours, wider than a day. That is why two places can be on different calendar dates at the same instant.
How do I find a meeting time across zones?
Overlap the two working days. Beyond about eight or nine hours of difference the overlap disappears entirely, and someone has to be awake outside their day.
Does UTC change with the seasons?
No, and that is the point of it. UTC has no daylight saving, which is why aviation, shipping and computing all use it as the reference.
