Break-even is above the purchase price, because fees are charged on both sides. At 0.5% each way you need roughly a 1% move just to get back to level, which matters a great deal for anyone trading frequently. Tax treatment varies enormously by jurisdiction — capital gains in some places, income in others, and different again for staking, mining and airdrops. The rate here is an input for that reason. Nothing on this page projects a price or suggests a trade. It computes what you ask, on the numbers you supply.

How the Crypto Profit Calculator works

Profit on a position with buy and sell fees and tax as separate inputs, plus the break-even price. At 0.5% each way you need roughly a 1% move just to get back to level.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate crypto profit?

Proceeds less fees, less the original cost including its fee. The fees on both sides are why break-even sits above the purchase price.

What is my break-even price?

The price at which proceeds net of the sell fee equal everything you put in. It is always above the buy price, and the gap widens with the fee rate — which matters most to frequent traders.

How is crypto taxed?

It varies enormously — capital gains in some jurisdictions, income in others, and different again for staking, mining and airdrops. The rate here is an input for exactly that reason.

Do fees really matter that much?

Over many trades, decisively. A 1% round trip on a strategy that trades weekly costs over 50% a year in fees before any market movement is considered.

Does this predict prices?

No. It computes what you ask on the numbers you supply. Nothing here forecasts a price or suggests a trade.
