GST Calculator India
Slabs, and the CGST/SGST split.
Rates change with budgets and local ballot measures, and the rate that applies depends on the delivery address and product category. Treat these as planning figures, not as a filing.
Price including GST
₹1,180.00
₹180.00 of GST at 18%
GST is split into CGST and SGST for sales within a state, or IGST for sales across state lines — the total is the same, only the allocation differs. Registration thresholds differ for goods and services and for special category states.
How the GST Calculator India works
Indian GST runs on slabs — 0, 5, 12, 18 and 28 percent — with the rate set by HSN code rather than by seller. The total is the same whether a sale is within a state or across state lines; only the split changes, into CGST and SGST for intrastate or a single IGST for interstate.
Not financial advice. Marketplace fees change, and they vary by country, plan and seller status. Every rate here is an editable default, not a quoted price — check the platform's current fee schedule before you price a product against it. This is not tax or business advice.
Frequently asked questions
What are the GST slabs in India?
0%, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%, with 18% the most common for general goods and services. Some categories carry an additional compensation cess on top of the 28% slab.
What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?
For a sale within a state, the tax splits equally into Central GST and State GST. For a sale across state lines, a single Integrated GST is charged at the full rate. The customer pays the same either way — the split only determines which government receives it.
How do I remove GST from an inclusive price?
Divide by 1 plus the rate. At 18%, divide by 1.18 — the GST inside a ₹1,180 price is ₹180, not ₹212.40.
When must I register for GST?
Thresholds differ for goods and services and for special category states, and registration is compulsory regardless of turnover for interstate suppliers and most ecommerce sellers. Selling through a marketplace generally requires registration from the first rupee.
