How the Etsy Fee Calculator works

Etsy charges in layers, and the layers are what catch sellers out. A listing fee before you sell anything, a transaction fee on the item and the shipping you charged, a payment processing fee on the whole order including tax, and in some markets a regulatory operating fee on top. This itemises all of them against one sale.

Not financial advice. Marketplace fees change, and they vary by country, plan and seller status. Every rate here is an editable default, not a quoted price — check the platform's current fee schedule before you price a product against it. This is not tax or business advice.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy take per sale?

Typically 10-13% of the order once listing, transaction and payment processing fees are combined, in markets without a regulatory operating fee. With Offsite Ads attribution that can reach 25-28% on a single order, since the ads commission is charged on top of everything else.

Does Etsy charge a fee on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to the shipping you charge the buyer as well as the item price and any gift wrap. Sellers who price with free shipping are paying that fee on the shipping cost they absorbed into the item price instead — it is charged either way.

What is the listing fee and when is it charged?

$0.20 per listing, charged when you publish and again every four months if the listing auto-renews. It is also charged again when a listing with multiple quantities sells one unit and renews automatically, which surprises sellers with high-quantity listings.

Are Etsy fees charged on sales tax?

Payment processing is calculated on the full amount the buyer paid, which includes sales tax that Etsy collects and remits. The 6.5% transaction fee is not applied to sales tax Etsy collects on your behalf.
