Influencer CPM
$10.42

Comparing influencer CPM against paid CPM sets a floor for the negotiation, though the trust multiplier is a judgement rather than a measurement. Views also decay unpredictably: a creator's median view count is a better basis than their best post.
How the Influencer CPM Calculator works
Comparing influencer CPM against paid CPM sets a floor for the negotiation. The trust premium above it is a judgement rather than a measurement, and a creator's median view count is a far better basis than their best post.

How it is calculated
Influencer CPM is the fee divided by impressions, per thousand: (fee ÷ impressions) × 1000. It makes creator pricing comparable against paid media.
Impressions rather than followers is the right denominator, since reach is what the advertiser receives and follower counts overstate it substantially.
The comparison against paid social CPM is the useful one, adjusted for the fact that creator content carries an endorsement paid placements do not.
Numbers on it
A $900 fee on a post reaching 31,000 people is a $29 CPM.
Paid social in the same category might run $11 to $14, so the creator placement costs roughly twice as much per impression.
That premium buys endorsement, native format and content the brand can reuse. Whether it is worth double depends on whether those things convert better, which is measurable.
If the post produces 34 orders from 31,000 impressions, a 0.11% order rate, against paid social at 0.05%, the creator content converted twice as well and the CPM premium was fully justified.
What it does not tell you
Impressions on creator content are often estimated rather than reported, and creators self-reporting reach have an obvious incentive. Asking for screenshots of platform analytics rather than a stated figure is standard practice.
Reach also decays: a post's impressions accumulate for days or weeks, so a CPM calculated at 48 hours overstates the cost.
What follows from it
Ask for post-campaign analytics rather than pre-campaign estimates, and calculate the CPM on actual reach a week or two after posting.
Then compare against paid social on cost per order rather than cost per impression, since the whole argument for the premium is that the impressions work harder.
Why the CPM comparison undersells creator content
A paid impression buys attention for a moment; a creator impression arrives with an implicit recommendation from someone the viewer chose to follow.
That difference shows up in conversion rather than in reach, so a CPM comparison systematically favours paid media by measuring only the cheaper half of what is being bought.
It also ignores the reusable content, which for many campaigns is worth as much as the reach. Comparing on cost per order, with the content valued separately, is the comparison that captures what is actually being purchased, and it frequently reverses the conclusion a CPM comparison reaches.
Story and short-video formats reach differently from feed posts on most platforms, so a CPM calculated across mixed formats describes an average that applies to none of them.
Pricing and measuring by format separately is what makes the comparison against paid placements meaningful.
Tracking CPM alongside cost per order across campaigns builds a benchmark specific to your category, which is worth considerably more than any published industry figure.
Asking for the reach of the creator's last several sponsored posts, rather than their best organic one, gives a realistic basis for the calculation.
Recording actual reach against the quoted estimate for every campaign builds a record of which creators forecast honestly, which is worth more over time than any single campaign's result.

Not financial advice. Marketplace fees change, and they vary by country, plan and seller status. Every rate here is an editable default, not a quoted price, check the platform's current fee schedule before you price a product against it. This is not tax or business advice.
Frequently asked questions
How is influencer CPM calculated?
Fee divided by expected views, times a thousand. Expected views should come from the creator's recent median, not their peak.
How does it compare with paid CPM?
Influencer CPM is usually higher, and the argument for paying it is credibility and creative that paid media cannot buy. Whether the premium is justified is what the negotiation is about.
Why use median rather than average views?
Because a single viral post pulls the average up and will not repeat. The median describes what a typical post from that creator actually delivers.
Should I pay per view instead?
Performance-based creator deals exist and are growing. They shift risk to the creator, which means fewer will accept them and those who do will charge more per view.
