Landed cost per unit

$12.43

48.0% above the quoted unit price

Goods$4,200
Freight & insurance$1,260
Duty on CIF value$355
Total landed$6,215

The quoted $8.40 becomes $12.43 delivered. Comparing suppliers on quoted price alone routinely picks the wrong one.

How the Landed Cost Calculator works

Landed cost is what a unit actually costs you sitting in your warehouse, ready to sell. Comparing suppliers on quoted unit price alone routinely picks the wrong one — freight, duty and clearance can easily reverse which supplier is cheaper.

Not financial advice. Marketplace fees change, and they vary by country, plan and seller status. Every rate here is an editable default, not a quoted price — check the platform's current fee schedule before you price a product against it. This is not tax or business advice.

Frequently asked questions

What goes into landed cost?

Product cost, inbound freight, insurance, customs duty, brokerage and clearance fees, port and handling charges, inland transport to your warehouse, and any currency conversion cost. Everything spent getting the unit to a sellable state.

Why does landed cost matter more than unit price?

Because a supplier 10% cheaper per unit but further away with a higher duty rate can be more expensive delivered. Margin calculations built on quoted unit price rather than landed cost systematically overstate profitability.

How do I allocate shipping across mixed shipments?

By value, weight or volume, depending on what drives the cost. Volume-based allocation suits container freight; weight-based suits air. Allocating by value is simplest and reasonable when items are broadly similar in density.

Should landed cost include payment terms?

If you are paying for credit, yes. Paying 60 days early to secure a discount has a real financing cost, and letter of credit charges belong in the figure too. Cash timing is part of what an import genuinely costs.
