Normality is molarity times the number of reactive equivalents per formula unit, so 1 M sulfuric acid is 2 N when both protons are neutralised. The catch is that the factor depends on the reaction, not the compound: sulfuric acid is 2 N against a strong base and 1 N in a reaction that takes only the first proton. A normality quoted without its reaction is incomplete, which is why IUPAC discourages the unit.
