Etsy Transaction Fee Calculator
The 6.5% cut, including on the shipping you charge.
Enter 0 for free shipping — the fee is charged on the item price either way.
Editable in case Etsy changes it before this page is updated.
Transaction fee
$2.67
6.5% of $41.00
You pay $0.39 in transaction fees on the shipping alone. Building shipping into the item price does not avoid it — the fee follows the total either way.
How the Etsy Transaction Fee Calculator works
The transaction fee is Etsy's commission on the sale, and it applies to more than the item price. Shipping and gift wrap are included in the base, which means the fee follows whatever the buyer paid in total — there is no arrangement of your pricing that avoids it.
Not financial advice. Marketplace fees change, and they vary by country, plan and seller status. Every rate here is an editable default, not a quoted price — check the platform's current fee schedule before you price a product against it. This is not tax or business advice.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Etsy transaction fee?
6.5% of the total order value: item price plus shipping plus gift wrap. It is charged per item sold, and it is separate from payment processing, which is charged per order.
Does free shipping avoid the transaction fee on shipping?
No. If you build shipping into a higher item price, the 6.5% is charged on that higher price instead. The total fee is essentially identical — free shipping is a conversion and search-ranking decision, not a fee-saving one.
Is the transaction fee charged on sales tax?
No. Sales tax that Etsy collects and remits on your behalf is excluded from the transaction fee base. It is included in the payment processing calculation, because that is charged on the full amount the buyer's card was billed.
What about custom or personalised orders?
Same 6.5%, applied to whatever the buyer paid in total. If you charge for personalisation as part of the item price, the fee covers it. Private listings for a specific customer are treated identically to public ones.
