Category rate, with the per-item minimum.

Written and maintained by Mohit PatelLast checked August 4, 2026How we build these

Amazon revises fee schedules at least annually and adds new surcharges more often. These defaults are a starting point — the figures in your own fee preview are the ones that describe your ASINs.

15% of $29.99$4.50
Per-item minimum$0.30
Referral fee charged$4.50
Per month$1,350

The referral fee is charged on the total the customer pays including shipping, not on the item price alone. Several categories are also tiered — the rate changes above or below a price point — so check yours rather than assuming a flat percentage.

How the Amazon Referral Fee Calculator works

The referral fee is Amazon's commission and it varies enormously by category — 8% on electronics, 15% on most things, 45% on Amazon device accessories. A per-item minimum applies underneath, which makes cheap items proportionally the most expensive to sell.

Not financial advice. Marketplace fees change, and they vary by country, plan and seller status. Every rate here is an editable default, not a quoted price — check the platform's current fee schedule before you price a product against it. This is not tax or business advice.

Frequently asked questions

What is the referral fee?

Amazon's commission on each sale, charged as a percentage of the total the customer pays. Most categories are 15%; consumer electronics is 8%; jewellery is 20%; a few specialist categories go far higher.

What is the minimum referral fee?

A floor of around 30 cents per item applies where the percentage would produce less. Below roughly $2, the minimum bites and the effective rate rises as the price falls.

Are any categories tiered?

Several. Furniture, grocery, jewellery and others charge one rate below a price point and a lower rate above it. Assuming a flat percentage overstates the fee on higher-priced items in those categories.

Can the referral fee be reduced?

Not directly — it is set by category. The only real lever is whether your product is classified in the category you think it is, which is worth checking, because misclassified listings sometimes carry a higher rate than they should.
