Marketplace fee models change often, and several platforms in this set have altered theirs outright in recent years. These defaults are a starting point, your own seller terms are the authority.
Walmart Marketplace fees
$7.65
15% of the $51.00 order
Commission is charged on the shipping the buyer paid as well as the item, adding $0.90 per order. Free shipping built into the price costs the same as shipping charged separately here. Referral rates run from 6% to 15% by category, with electronics and cameras at the low end and most consumer goods at 15%. Payment processing is included in the referral fee rather than charged separately, which makes the headline rate look higher than it is against platforms that split them.
How the Walmart Marketplace Fee Calculator works
Walmart's referral rate looks higher than Amazon's on several categories, and part of that is structural, payment processing is bundled into the referral fee rather than charged separately. Comparing headline rates across the two without adjusting for that overstates the gap.

How the figure is built
Walmart Marketplace charges a referral fee as a percentage of the total sale price including shipping, varying by category, commonly 6% to 15%, with 8% on many consumer categories.
There is no monthly subscription and no listing fee, which makes the referral fee the whole of the platform cost for a seller fulfilling their own orders.
Fee = (item price + shipping charged) × category referral rate.
A real example
The $58 item at an 8% referral rate: $4.64. Against $26.10 of goods that leaves $27.26 before fulfilment.
At a 15% rate, jewellery and some other categories, the fee is $8.70 and $23.20 remains.
Compare that against Amazon's 15% on the same item: $8.70. On an 8% Walmart category the platform takes $4.06 less per sale, which on 1,000 units a month is $4,060.
That commission gap is the main commercial argument for the channel, and it is real, though it comes with materially lower traffic than Amazon in most categories.
The usual mistakes
The referral fee applies to shipping charged as well as the item price, so a low item price with a high shipping charge does not reduce the fee.
Walmart also enforces price parity: listing an item cheaper elsewhere can cause it to be unpublished or lose the Buy Box. That constrains pricing strategy in a way Amazon's rules do not, and it catches sellers who use Walmart as a clearance channel.
Using the result
Check the referral rate for your specific category before modelling. The 6% to 15% range is wide enough that a category assumption can swing the economics entirely.
Then plan for the parity requirement. A Walmart listing has to be priced consistently with your other channels, which means the pricing decision is made across all of them at once rather than per channel.
Why the lower commission does not automatically mean more profit
Walmart's traffic is a fraction of Amazon's in most categories, so the same listing generates fewer sales. A better margin on fewer units can be worth less than a worse margin on many.
The channel usually earns its place as incremental volume rather than as a replacement: the same inventory, the same photography, a few hours of listing work, and whatever additional sales result at a better margin.
The judgement is whether the operational cost of running another channel: another inventory feed, another order stream, another returns process, another performance scorecard. Is covered by that incremental contribution. For a seller already at scale it usually is; for one still establishing a single channel it usually is not, and adding it early is a common way to do two things badly.
One further requirement worth planning for: Walmart applies performance standards covering on-time despatch, valid tracking and cancellation rate, and listings from sellers who miss them lose visibility rather than receiving a warning. The standards are achievable for a well-run operation and stricter than an open marketplace's, which is part of why the competitive field is thinner.

Frequently asked questions
What does Walmart Marketplace charge?
A referral fee of roughly 6% to 15% depending on category, charged on the total the customer pays including shipping. There is no monthly subscription and no listing fee.
Is payment processing extra?
No; it is included in the referral fee. That is a meaningful difference from Amazon and eBay, where processing is either separate or embedded differently, and it makes Walmart's headline rate look worse than it is.
Is the fee charged on shipping?
Yes, on the total order value including shipping the customer paid. Building shipping into the item price does not avoid it.
How does it compare with Amazon?
Referral rates are broadly similar by category. Walmart has less traffic and less competition, which for many sellers means lower advertising costs and better organic visibility for the same product.
