Marketplace fee models change often, and several platforms in this set have altered theirs outright in recent years. These defaults are a starting point, your own seller terms are the authority.
WFS fulfilment fee
$5.75
plus $94 a month of storage
Walmart Fulfillment Services prices similarly to FBA and rounds weight up the same way. The referral fee is separate and includes payment processing, which is the main structural difference: Walmart's headline rate looks higher than Amazon's partly because it bundles what Amazon splits out.
How the Walmart WFS Fee Calculator works
Walmart Fulfillment Services prices much like FBA: weight tiers, rounding up, and storage per cubic foot that rises in the fourth quarter. The referral fee sits on top and already includes payment processing, which is the main structural difference between the two programmes.

The calculation itself
Walmart Fulfillment Services charges a fulfilment fee per unit by weight band, plus monthly storage by cubic foot, on top of the referral fee. The structure closely mirrors FBA.
Total = referral fee + WFS fulfilment fee + monthly storage + any oversize or additional-handling surcharges.
As with FBA, the fulfilment fee is flat per unit rather than a percentage, so it consumes a larger share of a cheaper item.
A real example
The $58 item at 1 lb: an 8% referral fee is $4.64 and a WFS fulfilment fee around $5.15. Storage on a small item is a few cents.
Total platform cost around $9.85, or 17% of the sale, against $26.10 of goods, leaving $22.05.
The same item on Amazon FBA at a 15% referral and a $4.25 fulfilment fee costs $12.95, leaving $18.95. WFS is $3.10 better per unit on these assumptions.
That advantage narrows or reverses on heavier items, where the two fee schedules diverge, so the comparison has to be run at your actual weight rather than in general.
Where the figure deceives
WFS storage and long-term storage charges exist and behave like Amazon's, so slow-moving stock is penalised on both platforms. Sending inventory to a channel with lower traffic and equivalent storage economics is how sellers end up with aged stock in two places.
The fulfilment fee bands also differ from Amazon's, so a product that sits comfortably inside a band on one platform may sit just above one on the other.
Acting on it
Model both platforms at your exact weight and dimensions rather than assuming the cheaper referral rate wins. The fulfilment fee difference frequently matters more than the commission difference.
Then send inventory in proportion to expected demand rather than splitting evenly. A channel with a fifth of the traffic needs a fifth of the stock, and equal splits are how aged inventory accumulates on the quieter platform.
Whether to hold stock on two platforms at all
Splitting inventory across two fulfilment networks means holding safety stock twice, which raises total inventory for the same service level, the same duplication that makes multi-warehouse operations expensive.
For a seller with genuine volume on both channels that cost is worth paying for the delivery speed and badge each platform gives its own fulfilment. For a seller testing a second channel it usually is not.
The sequence that works is to start on the second channel with self-fulfilment or a third-party warehouse feeding both, establish whether the demand is real, and only then commit inventory to the platform's own network. Committing stock first is how a channel test becomes a stock write-off.
Each platform assesses its restock and storage limits independently, so stock committed to one does not relieve pressure on the other. A seller near a limit on both is carrying the worst of each system, which is a further argument for feeding both networks from a third-party warehouse rather than committing large quantities to either.
Walmart Fulfillment Services prices on the same broad model as Amazon's FBA, with a fulfilment fee by weight and size plus monthly storage, and the rates are not the same. Modelling WFS from FBA figures produces an answer that is roughly right and wrong in the specifics, and the specifics are where the margin sits on a lower-priced item.

Not financial advice. Marketplace fees change, and they vary by country, plan and seller status. Every rate here is an editable default, not a quoted price, check the platform's current fee schedule before you price a product against it. This is not tax or business advice.
Frequently asked questions
How does WFS pricing work?
A fulfilment fee set by weight tier, with additional charges per pound above the tier base, plus monthly storage per cubic foot. Weight is rounded up, so a partial pound costs a full one.
Is WFS cheaper than FBA?
Broadly comparable per unit, with the differences sitting in storage rates and surcharges rather than the headline fulfilment fee. WFS has historically carried fewer ancillary surcharges, though that gap has narrowed.
Do I need WFS to sell on Walmart?
No, seller-fulfilled listings are allowed and common. WFS earns its cost through the two-day delivery badge and better search placement, which is the same trade as FBA.
What about storage in the fourth quarter?
Rates rise for October to December, as they do on Amazon. Sending peak inventory early means paying the higher rate for longer, so a staged replenishment usually beats one large shipment.
